On Saturday I shot Ruth and David’s wedding at Missenden Abbey which is always a great place to shot a wedding anytime of the year and Saturday was no different.
I met up with Ruth in the bridal suite at Missenden Abbey and she was either playing it very cool or she truly had no nerves as she seemed very relaxed as she applied the finishing touches to her sister’s and her own make up whilst the boys were over at the Cross Keys pub having a nice lunch and I’m sure nursing a pint or two!
There were over 100 of Ruth and David’s family and friends waiting for Ruth and her father Roger to walk down the aisle and it really was standing room only at the back of the ceremony room as David waited patiently at the front with his three best men.
The ceremony was short and sweet with three lovely readings, one funny one about the joys of marriage read by Ruth’s sister Sophie which had everyone laughing. After the new Mr and Mrs Hawkins walked back down the aisle everyone enjoyed some Pimm’s and a few canapes in the garden’s until the rain had other ideas. Thankfully it stopped long enough for us to use the lush green grounds of the Abbey to take some creative shots and finish off the group shots before the speeches.
Ruth’s Dad Roger gave a fantastic speech with a great balance of personal and funny stories about Ruth and David’s lives up to this point as did David and the three Best Men who had choreographed theirs to perfection with each member playing off one another.
The day really seemed to flyby after lunch and before we knew it it was time for Ruth and David’s first dance and considering they were a little worried about this bit they did a cracking job and gave us the chance to get some beautiful images, my favourite being the aerial spin which really did sweep Ruth off her feet 🙂
