Last Friday I had made the trip over to Hampton Manor in Solihull for the beautiful wedding of Dirk and Ben.
Due to Dirk and Ben living in Hong Kong we only got to meet in person earlier on in the week but I knew straight away this was going to be such a fabulous wedding. They compliment each other so perfectly and from the way they described the plans for the day I knew the guests would be in for a real treat!
Hampton Manor is picture perfect inside and out. Dirk and Ben’s suite where they were to get ready was amazing. They got ready together which further added to the excitement of the day as they got to enjoy a few glasses of champagne with their bridal party and soak up the anticipation of the day ahead. Dirk and Ben had planned everything right down to the smallest details, their suits were tailored in Hong Kong and even had their names embroidered along the inside pockets. The rings too had been engraved with their names and the wedding date. Perhaps my favourite though was the socks! As it was May the 4th, all the Groomsmen had Star Wars socks, such a great idea.
They wanted a short ceremony so they could spend more time with all their guests but it was beautiful none the less. The aisle was lined with floating candles and rose petals and there were beautiful flower arrangements at the front. They each read their own vows and exchanged rings to tie the knot and become Mr and Mr as their loved ones looked on.
As they left the ceremony they were showered in confetti before taking a short walk to enjoy the sunshine in the beautiful grounds of the manor. Everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes on the lawns as we did a few group photos. As the string quartet played in the background we had a great time capturing everyone mingling and congratulating Ben and Dirk.
Next up was the wedding breakfast. The room was once again decorated to perfection with candelabras, flowers and favours. Everyone enjoyed a three course meal as Ben and Dirk made their way around the room changing seats at each course to ensure they got to speak to all their guests. Another great idea.
The speeches were next on the agenda and this was another highlight of the day. Ben and Dirk did a joint speech which was both sentimental and very entertaining. Then Ben’s father followed with Rebecca (one of the groomsmaids) who also made very funny speeches with some lovely words of advice to the happy couple. It was great fun capturing everyones reactions.
The final formalities were the cutting of the cake which took place in the middle of the dance floor before everyone joined Dirk and Ben for a joint first dance as the band kicked off the party! The perfect ending to the perfect wedding day.
