I really don’t know where to start with this one, Tiz and Marie’s wedding can only be described as EPIC! Every tiny detail of the day was thought about, prepared for and carried out to perfection. I have photographed many great weddings where Tiz and Marie had been guests. I always knew one day they would be planning their own wedding, it was just obvious these two were meant for each other. I just hoped I would be there to capture it all for them and it truly was an honour to do just that for these two beautiful people.

When we first met up to talk about their wedding, they were both bursting with ideas and knew exactly what they wanted, an outdoor Yurt wedding with a really relaxed vibe, all their closest family and friends, a spiral aisle, an informal, personal ceremony, beautiful details, lawn games, a VW camper Van, great food and drink, jelly, cake, flowers and of course free range chickens!

I was praying the weather would play ball and thank god it did and everything looked amazing! It was a wedding of many firsts for me. I had never been to an outdoor ceremony with a spiral aisle or infact been inside a Yurt and I can definitely give the thumbs up to both.

The ceremony was lovely and personal. Marie looked stunning as she walked round the aisle with her proud Uncle. Tiz was full of smiles as they joined hands to start the ceremony. A lovely touch was that the rings were passed all the way round the spiral with each of the guests holding them to pass on their blessings. Then Tiz’s sister did a lovely reading, there was not a dry eye in the house after that one. A few personal stories were shared and so much laughter throughout before they walked back round the aisle covered in lavender confetti.

Everyone enjoyed drinks and canapés in the sunshine whilst we made the most of the great light we had and did some bridal party and bride and groom shots around the grounds. There was a swing covered in flowers next to the yurts which made for some beautiful portraits and we of course got a few with vintage VW camper.

The company “Wedding Yurts” had done Tiz and Marie proud providing such a unique venue for them both, beautifully decorated and perfect for the wedding reception. I loved the details that Marie and Tiz had added like the “Favourite Songs” CD as their wedding favours, vintage tea cups, animal statues as place holders, flowers…I could go on and on.

The speeches were also a highlight of the day. Leela and I couldn’t help but laugh all the way through. So many funny moments, heckling, banter, stories, happy tears, they had it all. It was a pleasure to capture it all as I smiled through the view finder. Tiz and Marie have such a close group of friends and family and it was so nice to see just how much everyone adores them.

As the sun started to set, the venue once again delivered. There were lights in the trees, hundreds of candles, a South African BBQ, a live band and hundreds of different flavoured jellies! I just had to do a night shot with Marie and Tiz, even the Yurts were glowing. I love what we created as you’ll see below, I think it really sums up how beautiful this wedding was.

Tiz and Marie, what can I say?!? You really pulled off a fantastic wedding day and I’m just so happy I got to spend it with you both. Your both such a pleasure to be around and a dream to have in front of the camera. I’m sure you can’t wait to see some pictures, so here is your sneak peek storyboard!
