When Matt told me he and Ols planned to get married in Croatia and they wanted to fly me out to photograph it for them, I was chuffed, honored, and super excited! It’s actually a first for me on a few levels, the first time I have been to Croatia and also the first couple where I have both captured the proposal and also the wedding day 🙂
Obviously, with the covid 19 situation, there was a lot of uncertainty in the lead up to the wedding and I’m sure a lot of stress for them both, hoping that the day would actually happen. So when I touched down and arrived at the hotel it was so nice to run through the plans for the day and see the beautiful location they had picked for the ceremony and wedding reception.
I met up with Ols on the morning of the wedding at Hotel Palace Dubrovnik where she was getting ready to leave on a boat trip that her Mum had arranged. She was joined by all her bridesmaids and both Mums and it was the perfect start to the wedding celebrations. I even took the drone for a spin and got some video of them all circling around the islands. After a few glasses of champagne, we all headed back to the hotel to start the wedding preparations.
Matt was having a relaxing morning with his Best Man Marc around the pool, enjoying a few beers so I met up with them for a few shots before joining them for lunch. Then it was time to start getting ready for the main event.
As Ols walked over to the ceremony she saw her Dad for the first time, which was quite emotional and lovely to capture the proud look on his face.
The sun was starting to set and everyone had the perfect view as the ceremony location is surrounded by the sea, it really was picture perfect! Matt was all smiles as Ols walked down the aisle and they joined hands to start the ceremony.
Finally, Matt and Ols got the wedding day they always wanted, exchanged rings, and had their first kiss in front of many of their friends and family to become Mr and Mrs Wilson Jones!
Next up everyone enjoyed a few glasses of champagne as we took some group photos on the terrace before heading off to a couple of planned locations around the hotel grounds for some couple shots. I love the variety of shots we got and Matt and Ols were absolute troopers as it was rather hot walking around in the late afternoon sunshine.
Next up was the speeches, always one of my favourite parts of a wedding day. Everyone did a great job and it was so fun capturing it all, especially with the amazing sunset as the backdrop.
To finish off the day’s formalities it was time for the cutting of the cake and the first dance! I love the shots of Matt spinning Ols around on the dancefloor. The perfect ended to the perfect wedding day.
Matt and Ols, thanks so much for bringing me with you on your wedding adventure. I had a blast and I couldn’t wait to show you some more pics so here’s your sneak peek storyboard!
